Morni Hills, in Panchkula district, is Haryana's only hill station, an offshoot of the Shivalik range rising to over 1,200 metres. Centred on Morni village with its centuries-old fort, the area has two natural lakes, forested slopes and Karoh Peak nearby, and serves as a cooler retreat within reach of Chandigarh.

When to go

October to March brings cool, comfortable weather for the hills; summers are hot, though somewhat milder than the plains below.

Why visit

Visit the two Morni lakes, climb to the old hilltop fort, and enjoy forest walks and views across the Shivalik foothills, all within about an hour of Chandigarh.

How to reach

By Road: Morni Hills is about 45 km from Chandigarh and 35 km from Panchkula, reached by a hill road with no fuel stations en route. By Air and Train: Chandigarh International Airport (about 52 km) and Chandigarh Railway Station (about 41 km) are the nearest transport hubs.
