    Weekend races held from November to March. Region: Tulu Nadu coastal Karnataka (Udupi, Mangaluru).Cultural

    The coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi in Karnataka, and Kasaragod in Kerala (collectively known as Tulu Nadu).

    A traditional mud-laden sports carnival where farmers race pairs of buffalos through waterlogged slushy paddy tracks.

  • Kumbh Mela

    Kumbh Mela

    World's largest religious gathering. Rotates by planetary positions among Prayagraj, Haridwar, Ujjain and Nashik. Maha Kumbh (Prayagraj) every 12 years — last was 2025. Ardh Kumbh at Haridwar in 2027; Kumbh at Nashik 2033. An annual Magh Mela is held at Prayagraj each winter. Region: Prayagraj / Haridwar / Ujjain / Nashik.Religious

    Held biennially (once every two years) in January. The 2026 Jatara was held Jan 28-31; next occurrence 2028 (exact dates not yet published). Region: Medaram, Telangana.Religious

    Medaram village, situated deep inside the dense Tadvai forest zone, Mulugu district, Telangana.

    The largest tribal religious congregation in the world, honoring mother goddesses who fought feudal oppression.
