Don Hill Station is an emerging, hill village deep within the Sahyadri mountain range in the Dang district of South Gujarat. At about 1,000 metres it matches Saputara in elevation but remains entirely untouched by mass commercial commercialization. The destination is a rustic, eco-tourism landscape enveloped by dense bamboo forests, steep valley drop-offs, and small mountain streams. It is inhabited by a small indigenous tribal community, with an authentic rural escape characterized by clean mountain air and rich bio-diversity.

When to go

The post-monsoon and winter window from September to March is ideal, bringing misty morning mountain views, active seasonal streams, and refreshing, chilly night temperatures.

Why visit

A Dangi village on a plateau in south Gujarat, promoted as a hill station only recently, which means very little has been built on it. The Anjani Mata cave here is tied locally to the Hanuman story. Come after the monsoon, when the Dangs are green and the roads are passable.

Cultural notes

The village has deep scriptural roots, believed locally to have been named after the warrior sage Guru Dronacharya. The resident Dangi tribes maintain a relationship with nature, regularly performing sacred forest prayers and playing traditional musical instruments like the Kahalia.

How to reach

By Road: Situated roughly 30 km from Ahwa (the district headquarters) and 165 km from Surat. By Train: The nearest railhead is at Waghai (on a narrow-gauge line), but Bilimora Junction is the most practical major station, located 120 km away. By Air: Surat Domestic Airport (STV) is the closest flight terminal, about 170 km out.
