Omkareshwar is one of the twelve jyotirlingas, set on an island in the Narmada shaped — pilgrims will show you — like the sacred syllable Om. The Omkareshwar temple's tiered shikhara rises above the ghats on Mandhata island, reached by boat or the arched footbridges, and a parikrama path circles the island past shrines, sadhus and river views. On the far bank stands Mamleshwar, its partner jyotirlinga shrine, completing the darshan.
