Ujjayanta Palace in Agartala is the former royal residence of the princely rulers of Tripura and today the state museum. Built in the early 20th century in a grand Indo-Saracenic style, it stands amid Mughal-style gardens and pools and brings out the culture, history and communities of the northeast.

October to March is the most comfortable time to explore the palace and gardens.
Why visit
Built in 1901 and named by Rabindranath Tagore, who was a regular guest of the Tripura royals. It is the state museum now, and the Northeast galleries inside are better than the building.
